Moss Ball/Burlap Tassel

I am still not finished with using moss.  I thought of this the other day.  A moss ball with burlap fringe tassel.

 I used:
  •  a small styrofoam ball
  •  moss
  • burlap cut into strips
  • twine
  • embellishments or leave plain
  • glue gun
  • bottle cap

I like it when something that you think about to craft doesn't turn out to be a "craft fail"....LOL... I am thinking about making these and selling them. What do ya'll think? Please let me know.
 Have a great day.

DIY Moss Balls with Embellishments

I told ya'll I am doing alot of crafts with moss. If my kids and animals don't watch out, I will put moss on them too!LOL I don't have any pics of putting this together, but the supplies that I used are:
  •  2 styrofoam balls(any size you choose)
  •  Sheet moss
  •  Glue gun
  •  Embellishments of your choice

I found this crown at Michale's in the dollar section and it is my favorite. The crown is a little heavy, so I had to place it in a candle cup because it kept tipping over.

The fleur de lis are just stickers that I glued on. I have a bigger fleur de lis that I bought from Michael's and I will probably make another moss ball and put that one on it.
I hope all of you are having a great day!

Bunny Trio and my Sentimental Boxwood/Moss Ball

How's everybody doing today? The weather this weekend was perfect!! Last week was rainy and cold, but today low 70's. Aaahh SPRING at last. Here is another one of my spring vignettes. I've had these bunny picks and if you all can remember I used one of them here. The little pots are from some of those Easter trees that you can buy from Dollar Tree, I took out the tree part and put the bunny pick in it and glued some reindeer moss around it. I then added the raffia bows.

I used up more of my plastic eggs and mod podged dictionary pages to them. I found the rabbit and sheep stamp at Michael's in the dollar section.
I am really excited about this boxwood ball. When I was growing up my mother had a boxwood wreath, that she hung on the door at Christmas. She ended up taking it apart and using the pieces of boxwood as fillers for bowls and other things. When I got it(she passed away 15 years ago)I used it for the same thing at Christmas. I have a basket that I would put ornaments in with the boxwood pieces. After seeing boxwood wreaths, balls, and topiaries all over blog land I decided to make a boxwood ball and then I could enjoy it all the time, plus remind me of my mother when I see it.
I used a 4 inch styrofoam ball and I had enough boxwood for it to be even all over, except for this section, so I glued moss to it and I thought that was perfect. That part will be on the bottom anyway. I love it and now I can use it all the time. Thanks, mom.

Gold Easter Eggs

HAPPY EASTER

I hope everyone had an egg-cellent day. These eggs are another inspiration(I mean copycat)from Room to Inspire and you can go here for the tutorial on how to paint these eggs.

I had the little frame. I bought it from Michael's last year.
The one above is the large latex egg and this is the small one. I decided to do two because I found this cross in the dollar section at Michael's and I thought it would be appropriate for Easter. The cross was plain, so I added the small pearls.

I do hope everyone had a great day with your families. We are in troubling times and need to keep everyone in our lives very close.

Moss Bunny, Moss Egg and Sheet Music Eggs....Oh My!

I have been in a put moss on everything mood lately.LOL.... I found some foam shaped bunnies at Michael's and glued it to the sheet moss and then cut around it. I found this pretty french ribbon at Hobby Lobby and in the dollar section at Michael's I found these crowns.

My inspiration for this egg is from the blog, Room to Inspire and the tutorial on how to make this one is here. She is no longer blogging but I did send her an e-mail and she might come back to  the blogging world.. She has so many great ideas that inspired me(that I had to copy)LOL.. I hope she returns to blogging. The only thing I did different was use the green moss and the french ribbon.

I also used up some of my plastic eggs by decoupaging this sheet music scrapbook paper to them. My bunny is concrete and has been outside and I decided to paint it white and put the felt circles on the bottom and use it inside. This was also an idea from Room to Inspire with her bunny and you can see that here.

Have a great day.

Moss Easter Eggs

Hey everybody. This is my little Easter vignette. I have been wanting to make some moss eggs and I found some  latex eggs at Hobby Lobby. These are the small ones and I bought the sheet moss and coordinating ribbon at Hobby Lobby too.

I wanted to add an embellishment to them and found this little egg basket  and on the other one I added  a  flower.

Here is my cloche that I made last year from a Dollar Tree garbage can. Look at those cute, little babies.

 Have a great day.

Straw Hat Bunny

Hello everybody. I came across a straw hat bunny last year and I wanted to make one for myself. I saw it on Between Naps on the Porch  and she also has a tutorial here. I think she is adorable with her purple butterfly. Soooo springy. What do you think?

Red and Black Valentine Vignette

I put together this red and black vignette. I wanted something bright, dark,  soft, romantic and whimsical.  The vase is covered in round, glitter dots, that I cut out from some tissue paper and mod podged  to the vase. I put black tulle inside and topped it with this feather ball.
This is a big card that I gave my husband in 2006 and I wanted to use it, since it is red and black. I also made this tulle heart wreath. I used a coat hanger and shaped it into a heart and used about a roll of tulle. I cut the tulle in 3 inch strips and tied them around the coat hanger. I found this heart at Hobby Lobby and added it to the wreath.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day!!

Handmade Valentine Gift-Cherub Necklace and Ring

I made this necklace and ring with the same wooden hearts and that paper bag that I used for the cloche here. On both pieces I used Glossy Accents(a 3-dimensional gloss)to make it shiny.

Upcycled Wipes Containers

Happy Friday. I had these two wipes containers and I wanted something pretty that I could store bags, napkins, etc. and keep in my car. I covered them with this pretty duct tape that I have. Don't ya'll love all the pretty duct tape that they make now?
Anywhooo,I painted the tops with chalkboard paint so I can change out the containers to something different when I need to.
Happy Friday.

Valentine Heart Rings with Bling

I made these heart rings with homemade chalkboard paint. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought a bag of wooden hearts, packs of stickers and the rings. I already had the acrylic paint and the color I used, which was perfect for Valentine's Day is called, "Lipstick Red" by Folkart.

Here is what I used:
  • Unsanded Grout(Home Depot)
  • Folkart Acrylic Paint(Lipstick Red)
  • Plastic Cup to mix in
  • Paint Stick
Because this was such a small project, I didn't do any measuring. I just mixed it until I had the consistency that I wanted. I gave each wooden heart two coats of paint and then the fun began.

No fingernails will be shown in this demonstration. (I am not a Hand Model)LOL

This heart was painted with regular chalkboard paint and a sparkly rhinestone glued to it.
On this ring I had to put an "M" on it.LOL
This heart came out of a pack of buttons that I glued to the ring base.
I hope you liked my rings. Have a great day.

Valentine Decorations

I found this cherub at Wal-Mart and when I saw the heart on it, I knew what I wanted to put on it.
I bought some rhinestone stickers from Hobby Lobby and did this. This is mine and my husbands initials. Am I blushing??

Another Dollar Tree Cloche

Valentine Cloche

I wanted something a little different with this cloche and I came up with this.
This trash can was already red, so I didn't have to spray paint it. Dollar Tree is starting to carry colored ones now and that makes me happy. I cut a small block of floral foam and glued it to the top and I cut the heart picks shorter and inserted those into the foam. I had some white marabou and glued that around the floral foam.
I had a heart shaped mirror, so I put the cherub on it and added some heart scatter pieces.
I finally found something to put under my other cloche. I found this cute little cherub and painted it pink.
Have an awesome day.

Toile Valentine Cloche

Happy Monday. This cloche was made with a metal candle holder base, that I spray painted white and I had a paper bag that I got from a store, years ago. I mod podged that to the candle holder and the dome came from one of those clocks that has a dome on it. I just painted a wooden knob white and attached it to the top.
I used this same paper on another Valentine's craft and I will show all of you another day. I am just not sure what to display in my new cloche.
Have a great week.

Alabama Snow 2013

We had our first snow of the year last week.  It was really pretty, with big flakes coming down.  The dogs loved it.

This is Barney, checking out the snow in the front yard.

This is Sophie's first snow and she loved it. She was running all over the place. She would come in the house and immediately run back outside. She's so beautiful.

Here is both of them in the backyard. The snow only lasted a day, hopefully there will be more.
